Cooling system flushing procedure

Hi All...:D

Wondering if anyone has already flushed their cooling system in their GT's (or regular Elantra's)?

My GT will be 2 years old next month (but around 35000 km (not miles), but I plan on draining the coolant every two years, regardless of mileage).

The shop manual (from the hmaservice site), describes a procedure of draining whatever you can from the radiator, then adding water (I assumed distilled) as much as you can back into the radiator, then running the engine until the fan cycles 'a number of times'. This is followed by draining (as above thru the radiator stopcock) as much as you can and viewing the color of what comes out.

You repeat this until the fluid coming out of the stopcock is clear.

Then, on the final fill, you fill the radiator (as the manual states), using a minimum concentration of Hyundai coolant (to distilled water) of 45% but no more than 60%.

My concern is...there is still water left in the engine that isn't drained (pure water, not coolant), and when you add your coolant and top off (and bleed the system), your final concentration will not be the same as what you added to fill the radiator/engine). Even if I edge up closer to 60%, there's no real way to confirm that the final concentration is 45% or higher, realistically.

Since the coolant is only 2 years old and way below mileage recommended to change the coolant, would it be fine to just DRAIN, and then fill with ~50%, bleed the system and be done?

I'm leaning towards this method, because this is how HONDA recommends (in their manual) how to service the cooling system using their intervals (not a flush and fill, but a drain and fill). I'm hoping that a similar method should be fine for my GT.

I appreciate your comments and opinions.
:p
