You all seem to be the best and most thorough in regards to everything hyundai and I'm lucky to have found you.
I am a former gear head working on cars and doing a lot of performance work in my early years 16-24. Been through a lot of cars, road motorcycles for a little while. Recently started a family and traded in my x3 6speed for a fun/reliable sante fe 2007 limited AWD for the 3rd row and dvd for the little ones.
Have two boys one is 4 months and other is 20 months old which has been taking 110% of my time.
Went to school for automotive (BS in automotive technology) at SIU C and got a few ASE Certs in Brakes, steering suspension. Work on my car here and there to save some money, just did the rear brakes after the 1st attempt slowed me down with rusted rotor set screws.
I was able to get them out the 2nd time with some screw extractors, pb blaster, vice grips, hammer and another pair of hands. Was able to finally replace rear pads and rotors. Still have a dragging sound (Rear Passenger) which i thought was the rear shoes but the rotor went on easy so i'm guessing from my research that it is a rear wheel bearing- which sounds terrible.
Now i'm here because my Waterpump started getting a little noisey and wanted to see what the steps would be to replace it on the 3.3L.
at 78k miles did not want to have a ton of work with the timing belt, tensioner and so on... but seems that is what the next steps would be. Looking for a good walkthrough to see exactly what I need to do before I get out there and tearing it apart as its our only car and we have a trip coming up soon. I will continue to search i think i need to look for timing belt more then water pump to get a walkthrough with pics. seems to be a decent size job and pretty expensive if taking it in.
Nice to meet you all and would be happy to help out where I can, lot of general knowledge anything automotive or computer, and even cooking :)
