iPod Shuffle setting

Is there a way to keep the shuffle setting on permanently? Every time I turn the car off then back on, it resets the shuffle setting back to the regular play setting. the ipods setting is currently on shuffle. it's annoying to have the playlist reset every time you turn the car back on.
