Ok, so I went to visit a friend out of town who also has a 2012, but a GLS. Same stereo as mine (base unit), and his will change song tracks using the steering wheel controls or head unit controls over Bluetooth. His works with both an iPhone 5S (same as mine) and Android. Did he get a rare one, or should mine also do this? I should note he told me he got his replaced for an issue not long after he bought it.
BlueLink - I'm under a 3 month trial, and remote start still doesn't work. Did Hyundai ever get this resolved for 2012 Sonatas? Everything else works. My cousin and her husband bought a new '13 Elantra GT, and remote start works perfect with BlueLink. And, yes, I have push button start, as mine's an SE.
