Connecting an Ipod

I have a I20 Fluid and just bought an Ipod nano 7th gen
The ipod no longer has the large port at the bottom which the ipod cable that i received with my car usually fits into. This means i have to use the normal ipod cable and connect straight into the usb port. This means the car reads the ipod as a usb drive and all the music is randomly shared between several folders.
Is there some software patch or something that I can do to get my car to recognize the ipod only through the usb port?
