2000 Sonata V6, all sorts of problems

Hello,

First time posting here, I'm looking for some serious help. I just inherited a Sonata from a relative that passed away, and unfortunately, it wasn't very well taken care of. To begin, I have a hard time starting it after I fill up. I've read here that it could be the purge control valve, but I've also heard it could be water in the fuel tank (I know that the car always got cheap gas, usually with ethanol in it, so it could actually be that). When I'm going around turns, occasionally I hear and feel a short popping sound coming from somewhere around the pedals. The suspension is also absolutely terrible. The smallest of bumps sends the car rocking for quite some time. I wouldn't be surprised if bad suspension led to smashing something underneath on a speed bump or something, and that's what that popping sound is.
On top of that, occasionally the acceleration goes limp, sputters a little bit, and the gas pedal even temporarily becomes useless during these hiccups. Then, to make things even worse, it sputters and occasionally stalls when I'm stopped at lights-- this never happens when it's in park, but when it's in neutral or drive, it happens not infrequently, and for some reason happens at every single stop when it has been raining that day. The engine usually catches itself, but sometimes I have to start it back up.
Oh, and the check engine light is on, of course. The codes I pulled are P-0100 and P-1167, relating to the Mass Air Flow and Oxygen sensors, respectively.

I'm looking for the most economical approach to fixing these. I'm not much of my own mechanic-- I don't have a lot in the way of tools, but if things aren't very tricky, I'd fix them myself. There are just so many things wrong with this car that I don't even know where to begin, but I'm hoping to get it functional, as my wife's car is on its very very last legs and I'm hoping this can replace it. Any help would be seriously appreciated.
