2011 Limited AWD Questions

We recently acquired a 2011 Santa Fe Limited AWD. The car is very nice, but the owner's manual leaves much to be desired. I have a few questions that I hope forum members can help me out with.

1. What is "ECO"? The owner's manual only mentions how to turn this on and off, but says nothing about what it does or how it works. I assume that it's some kind of economy mode.

2. The car has the factory roof rails and cross bars. How can the cross bars be removed? I found the T-shaped handles that lift up on each end of the crossbar, but pulling up on them doesn't seem to release anything, and I don't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking something. Again, nothing in the owner's manual about this. Also, are there any recommendations on aftermarket "feet" that fit in the roof rails to use with smaller rectangle style cross bars?

3. I use Bluetooth extensively in a Volvo that I drive for hands-free cell phone operation, so I'm familiar with the concept, but programming voice activated dialing in the Santa Fe has me stumped. Two sets of instructions for doing this came with the car (one in the owner's manual and another in a separate Bluetooth guide), and they are different. It seems like I can get a dial-by-name entry saved, but when I then try to use the name to make a voice activated call, it's like the name never exited. Is there some secret step that I need to add?

Of course I can go to the not-so-local dealer to (hopefully) get assistance with most of these issues, but I thought that I would try the forum first. My prior experience with Volvo and Honda forums has taught me that there are many knowledgeable, friendly folks out there who are willing to share their wisdom.
