The car is a 2007 Elantra SE. The sun visors will regularly fall and dangle by the light cable. I have taken both of them out and it appears a plastic anchor has snapped off beneath the base that would otherwise keep the sun visors attached at the base (I can provide pictures if this description isn't clear enough).
Looking around, I gather this is a common problem for this model (apparently there's a redesign of the sun visor to address this per these guys : 2007-2010 Hyundai Elantra Sun Visor Genuine New Updated Design ). Unfortunately I can't seem to find any direct replacements for a reasonable cost ($170 per from the dealership or autopartscheaper.com is NOT what I consider reasonable).
I've tried using super-glue to re-attach the plastic anchor, but that didn't hold up very long. Does anyone know of a reliable way to fix these? Failing that, can anyone point me to a place that might have a relatively cheaper solution? Are there other model cars that use a similar compatible sun visor? I'm seeing some sun visors from a Santa Fe or Sonata of similar model years that *look* like they might fit... but they don't have the sliding mirror doors, rather flip-up ones that would block the roof light.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated, thank you.
