I have a 2008 veracruz with about 90,000 miles on it. About a year or so ago the breaks started squeaking/squealing really loudly (high pitched, like a city bus or postal truck). I took it into my local mechanic (who I've used before and generally trust) and they said that the back rotors and pads were at "50%" and the front were at 20%, so the turned the front rotors and put on new pads. All was well. About 2-3 weeks after the break repair, the squeaking came back. I took it back again to the mechanic, they took off the pads, put on "squeak stop" and put them back on (they didn't charge me for this, btw). I took it back out and about 3 weeks later again the squeaking came back.
For various reasons, I never really made it back to the mechanic. The breaks are performing fine and according to my mechanic from when I took it in before, the squeaking never affected the breaking and safety.
My question is this, what is the best way to go about getting the squeak gone for good, without spending a fortune having someone guess? Has anyone gone through this before? I like my mechanic, but am wondering if maybe they just don't do breaks as much or at least haven't seen many veracruz?
Any suggestions/thought?
