2007 entourage 3.8 v6
a few months ago our entourage started whining and grinding during cold starts the noise lasted like 5 seconds and went away not long enough to pinpoint car ran and drove great no noise other than when started cool.
the car is still making a grinding noise for a good 10 seconds when started cool or after sitting a bit the grinding/whining appears to be coming from the water pump pulley area but im not leaking coolant and temps running great could the bearing be starting to go and gets quite once antifreeze lubricates it? ive been trying to troubleshoot and found out about the defective timing chain tensioners and am nervous that could be what were hearing but there is no noise when driving only when starting car if its water pump I can handle it at home if tensioners are bad big bill at a shop im at a loss can somebody help me diagnose this I removed belt and spun pulleys water pump sounded kind of weird but didn't grind or squeal all other pulleys made no noise at all.
