Hey guys,

I was looking for some help on a Santa Fe Issue. I wanted to get some input if anyone has had any of these issues. These are real time issues as of todays date. First off I tell you a little about our car. We purchased in Feb of 2013 a new Santa Fe non turbo with AWD with every single package. I actually started a thread on a sound system I installed for my wifes santa fe. We had the vehicle for what is now 1 year and 5 months. Well, we had issues from day one but is expected for a totally new system implemented in the new design.

Let me list issues and if its fixed

1. Drivers seat would slide with brake or acceleration (fixed)
2. Rear Latch light didnt turn on or off when using the back door (fixed)
3. One of the keys completely stopped working completely (New KEY)
4. Weird message in Korean that makes the radio to stop working (Not Fixed)
5. Door Lock button on driver door dont work when car is off but works when car is on ( Not Fixed )
6. Radio and Interior lights dont turn off when exiting car. They self time out ( Not Fixed)
7. Of Course the Dash Rattle ( Not fixed, too warm to fix)
8. Both left and right power side mirrors stopped working ( not fixed )

Ok so thats a longer list than acceptable but got some stuff fixed in the start but now I have a major issue. One month after purchasing the car I installed a sound system and a remote starter. My dad has been doing high end mobile audio for over 20 years so it was easy to install. As some of you know you have to tap into some wires to make the aftermarket remote starter work. It works mostly by a module that works with data. Now let me tell you I had the rear latch repaired and the key replaced even with the remote stater. Never been an issue.

NOW IT IS. I took it in and after two hours they said that the power wire installed to the battery can cause these issues so it needs to be removed before they can troubleshoot even further. I understand car electronics and I know thats not the cause of the issues and I clearly stated that but they made a fuss about it. After 5 min in conversation they asked me if I had a remote starter installed  Hmmm... didnt they troubleshoot the car, if they did they would of seen the modules by the fuse box under the steering wheel. Im like WOW. These guys are BSing me . im like ok, Ill remove about $6k of audio equipment and remote start system. I didnt want to make a big fuss right.

Second time I bring it in after sweating my balls outside on sunday. I removed everything, including my hard wired radar system. Took it in, after two days they come back, since you cut the harness for the remote starter, we cant troubleshoot further until the harness is replaced. Its $7k to replace it and Hyundai wont cover a harness that has been cut into. Now if I was a normal person I would roll over and say ok. CRAP I EFED UP MY CAR. BUT LITTLE DID THEY KNOW INSTALL CAR AUDIO AND REMOTE STARTERS. I listened to the excuse again. They said they see bare wire all over harness and it could of caused a short somewhere. I said that weird......I know nothing was bare because I taped every single wire. So I dont know what you are talking about. LONG PAUSE........I said let me talk to your general manager. After 1 hour of what I call a lesson in car electronics to the service and general manager they said they would call a Hyundai Engineer. They think I caused a short somewhere. I explained fine, if i did cause damage don't you think these would of come up over a year ago not a few months ago. If I burned lets say the door lock ECU, then the door locks wouldn't work at all. They do work. They car starts, the car works 95%. The other 5% are these random issues. Remote starters work or don't work. They don't work half assed then damage everything a year later. My dad has installed thousands of remote starters, he has a degree in electronics. I know mistakes can happen but the car had issues before I even installed a remote starter or audio equipment.

Now some of you if you read this far are wondering how can a sub or amplifiers cause any of these issues. They cant. This dealer is being lazy and is uneducated to understand how anything works. I demanded proof and hopefully this monday I get my info I want. I said you need to prove to me I damaged the car somewhere not that the harness was cut, NO S**T. I know what I did. I demanded to know if they voided my warranty so I can do whatever I got to do. They said what are you going to do?......I laughed. All I said " A FEDERAL LAW EXISTS THAT THE CAR WARRANTY HOLDER HAS TO PROVE THAT AN AFTERMARKET ACCESSORY CAUSED DAMAGED IF THEY VOID THE WARRANTY WITH NO PROOF I CAN FILE AN FTC COMPLAINT"

Im no bad guy but I honestly told them if they see damage prove it and I will be on my knees to apologize to you guys but they keep pointing to the harness and dont give me an exact reason. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I'm honestly more disappointed. Maybe Ill use my prepaid legal from my corporate job to send a demand letter but why do I have to go that far. AM I WRONG? What do you guys think?
