Hello everyone!
I have an '08 accent which no longer plays music. =( Instead it makes this quick "bup bup" sound, always in 4 pairs (8 total sounds) with each pair about 1/2 second away from each other, on all 4 speakers at the same time, kind of like a power on test or something, except it keeps going with about a 6 second pause between. This happens only when the head unit is turned on, but is not affected by volume or input.
The CD player seems to function (the screen shows it playing, I can eject and put in CDs, change song, etc.), the radio can change channels (although when it seeks it gets nothing which makes me think this is an input or head unit problem), volume up/down works (at least on the screen).
Things I've checked/tried so far:
All 3 of the "Audio" fuses in the cabin - all perfectly clean
The "AMP" fuse in the cabin - clean
Shorts in the speakers in the trunk
With and without aux input
With and without a CD in it
Unplugged car battery for a few minutes, put it back and it was the same.
Unplugged car battery and removed head unit (to be double sure) for about an hour. Plugged the head unit back in and it's still doing the same thing.
Checked all <30 amp fuses under the hood - clean
I have no other issues with the car (lights/signals work, interior lights are good, etc.). No power windows, locks, no sun roof, so I obviously couldn't test those.
Any thoughts? I've been searching the Internet and saw things about it being one of the Audio fuses (I don't believe this is my issue unless there's an Audio fuse under the hood? I didn't see one there, but I did check all the <30 amp fuses and they're good), and one crazy theory about the car frame holding electricity and shorting out the audio system. Not sure how I would really remedy the second one - but I can confirm that I don't get shocked - that theory sounds outlandish to me either way...
