OK, Zelda II, my beloved 2012 Elantra is coming up on 50k miles. I know the service interval for transmission fluid (auto) change is 60k miles for severe service and basically never for normal. There is no way I believe the never!!! So I will likely wait until 70 - 90k miles and change the fluid. But how is that done?
If I remove the drain plug and drain what I can and replace it, then I still have roughly 50% of the old fluid. Is there a better way to do this? A way to get all of the old fluid out and replace? I have read that some folks take the hoses off of the transmission fluid's radiator and run the car and let the trans pump the fluid as you pour fresh fluid in the dipstick hole. Sounds risky to run dry.
Is there a better way? Or do you drain from the pan, fill, drive a day, do it again, again, and again until most of the old is gone. Seems there MUST be an easier way!
Ideas? Thanks
