Well I received my XM contract for 2014/2015 season and it went up from $113.00 with tax to $186.00 with tax. That didn't settle well so I gave them a call.
They told me first about the upgrade to get the entire package for $199.00 a year including tax. I said I just want the XM select package the same as I have now for much less. Then she told me that my radio won't support that price. REALLY REALLY BS I thought funny it did last year. Sounded like she was from South Korea, so I listened for a few minutes to try to understand what she was trying to say, then I tried to get a word in, and that was impossible as she was talking a mile a minute.
At the end I said listen lady I am willing to pay you the same as I did last year $113.00 with tax but no more or I will cancel my subscription. I'm giving you the money upfront now are you going to give me that rate or a better rate? Otherwise I want to cancel.
She gave me the same thing for $95.95 a year including tax but said next year the rate will go up to $186.99 but the price could change next year. She wanted me to agree. I said I know the rate might go up but when the year is over next June I will call and ask for a better rate than the $186.99 or I will just cancel. Well of course that didn't satisfy her as she wanted me to pay the $186.99 rate or she didn't want to give me the $95.95 rate. After a few more minutes I said ok cancel everything. Well then she backtracked and said ok let me see what I can do.
Then she came back and said I apologize and I can now give you the $95.95 rate and I will send you the rate of 186.99 for next year by email and at the time you can work with us to get a lower rate.
After 45 minutes on the phone I got a better rate than I had last year in 10,000 words or more. Wow what a way to do business. I can see why the company is not faring well and other companies what to buy it. They need a management shakeup! Customer service! Do they want to add subscribers or drive them away? That is the question.
I just received the confirmation by email and will check my credit card on line Saturday. It best be charged correctly. They are supposed to give me a credit as I'm paid up till 7/28 so we will see. Boy want a pain. I like the XM select but $186 a year is a royal screw. I may send the company a letter. To top it off I'm a shareholder and have made money on the stock but I can see it going down the tube if they treat everybody like this.
