I am even more depressed now. I just spent 45 mins detailing my car problems for you only to find out I timed out and could not post so I lost everything. Now that I know better, I will have to detail my problems in several posts, please stay with me.
My 2006 3.3L Sonata had 160k miles on it when the engine blew after many months of the timing chain tensioner issue. Obviously our warranty was up so we decided to replace the engine. I bought a 2008 3.3L with 28k miles on it and had it delivered to our local repair shop. We have know our local guys for years with ours sons being friends while growing up together. Our local guys are certified brothers with 31 years experience having worked for dealers in their younger days. They also have a racing team that travels out of state to compete on weekends so they are very knowledgeable guys. You need to know this when we discuss my car problems in detail in later posts.
The 2008 3.3L engine was delivered in like new condition with the original 2008 wiring harness still attached. So our repair shop decided to use the 2008 harness instead of my old 2006 wiring harness from the old engine during the replacement. Some sensors were different between the two engines and in order to use the 2006 harness our guys would of had to cut off some connectors from the 2008 harness and splice them onto our old 2006 harness. This made no sense to me or them since the 2008 harness was the original harness for that 2008 engine and it was in like new condition.
Our intent was to give the car to our college age kids who attend the same university as a reliable means to travel back and forth to home during breaks. The car had no other problems, mechanical or electrical, prior to the timing chain issue and is still in very good physical condition. But our nightmares started 2 weeks after getting the car back. It purred like a kitten for 2 whole weeks then the "seizures" started.
Bottom line here is did our repair guys make a mistake using the 2008 wiring harness that was attached to the 2008 engine instead of my old 2006 wiring harness as the dealer is claiming? I will explain in my next post.
