I just got a 94k 05 3.5L FWD GLS Santa Fe for my wife from the original owner and it has some issues I noticed in the first week of owning it. I have all the maintenance papers. Oil and other minor things were done at Jiffy Lube, all major stuff done at the dealer. Now the fun part:
1. Really peppy of the start, to the point where I feel it's leaving rubber on the pavement. My wife hates this, not sure if it's something that can be fixed or not. In all fairness, previous owner warned us about it and we felt it a little bit on the test drive but figured wife would have to get used to being easy on the throttle off the start.
2. Rough idle when warm. +/- 200 rpm. Engine vibration.
3. A/C sometimes engages even when turned off. Light comes on/off every 2-3 sec or so and I hear a relay clicking from the passenger side where the fan is. Previous owner had the dealer recently replace the A/C control switch and A/C compressor due to "burning smell coming though vents and A/C stopped working".
A/C is working when it's on, although it doesn't cool as much as I would like to.
4. Rusted rear window channel runs. Surface rust, seems to have had some kind of vinyl covers that disintegrated in time. Not sure if it's worth the time and $$$ to try replacing them so I'm thinking to sand and paint with black matte paint. Anybody did this before?
