I actually have a GT model , but close enough that it wont matter for this question, plus there is more activity here. Five days ago I just bought a brand new 2013 Elantra GT, I have driven it maybe 50 miles or so now. Today I made a u-turn in the street and noticed something very weird looking on the steering wheel.
On the bottom of the steering wheel maybe in the 7 o'clock position there are a bunch of little check marks in the leather, and not talking a couple of them, it looks like a razor blade made slices in the the leather ever 1/8" for a total length of 2" or so.
Now that I know its there is standing out like crazy! I never grab that area of the steering wheel and I only noticed it because I seen it on the wheel when I pulled the u-turn.
What do I do at this point, are my chances of it getting repaired totally shot? They made me sign a paper saying I looked it over and it was in new condition, but how can I really go though and check out every single square inch of the car, and this is not even in sight, its out of sight unless the wheel is upside down.
Am I totally screwed on this? I have an appointment setup on Monday to go in, I got them to throw in mudflaps and bumper guard for free and they are installing them no charge.. So I planned on talking with them about it then but I have a feeling all I am going to get is a sorry its yours now how do we know you didnt do it..
So I am not sure what to do now..
