Hi all,
I recently took my 2.7L 2007 Santa Fe (65k miles) into the shop to carry out the clock spring recall (car has been in storage for a year). The dealership did the recall and immediately my air bag system light went on.
I thought that it had something to do with a faulty recall, but the dealer said it was B1495 belt tension sensor failure and B1332 front impact sensor short to battery. The dealer asked if I was recently in an accident and I said no. They quoted me an $800 change to both systems, and I kinda chuckled because they could not answer my questions. I did not make their recommended changes since they could not explain the changes properly.
The dealer cleared the light and it has not come back on since. So:
1. Do I need the change if my light will not go back on? Ie could it have been a computer error? In Nov 2013 a friend did a diag, which cleared my check engine light, I did not make changes immediately and the light went back on almost within 10 mins (needed a coil change).
2. Are the recommended changes DIY or much cheaper anywhere else?
3. What other options are available?
Thanks for your help. I enjoy my car and take good care of it, so I am looking for some other voices to help me out.
