My wife is thinking of replacing her Yaris with another small hatchback or city type car. We have some observations and thoughts and hoped the good folk here could offer their views...as owners.
Tried a few cars and the i10 was a more than pleasant surprise. the new model appears well built, looks nice inside although a few more colour choices would be handy but blue is OK, the 1.0 goes remarkably well and flies along, materials look and feel good and well made. Whilst its not quite up to VW Up! standards in terms of those materials its not far behind and is as good as any other rivals in the same section of the market in our opinion.... and at a lesser price of course
Visibility is good and for the money and the great warranty its a brilliant effort by Hyundai.
The "bad" news as far as we see it and welcome any comments aren't many but are important.
Clutch has a very high bite point, something that was pointed out by the sales guy as well. And by coincidence back in the showroom when we mentioned it another customer turned around and said that she had just made the same comment herself. I tried it and it is high and yes, I accept is different from the Yaris but i did think it would be uncomfortable in heavy traffic ?
Also and this was on a specific road where its rough finished tarmac, the road noise was very bad. To be fair it was OK elsewhere but worry is that this would become annoying as not all roads are smooth...stating the obvious.
The clutch is the biggest bug bear and I did agree with my wife that the high bite point seems at odds in a city car... or any small car for that matter.
Thoughts ?
