Hi all so i need some help I've had this account for a long while but i just used it for searching. I have searched High and low for the issue like i am currently having on my 2004 Hyundai Sonata with manual climate but i am having no luck.
So a few weeks ago we had the car sitting for a little while and we went to go start it and the blower did not start initially. After about 15 minutes all of a sudden the blower came back on and was working this was in dead winter cold.
But the odd thing with this is that when you would turn the blower back to 0 the AC and MAX AC lights would still work and you could cycle the compressor with the buttons but there would be no blower since its in the 0 position. This i know is not normal.
After a few days in the garage again the climate seemed to work normally the firs time. But after it was put back out side because we don't drive it in the snow and I wanted my fiance's SUV in the garage. It was once again having issues and did not come back after it was put back in the garage again.
It has been not working since, the AC and Max AC lights will only light up with the blower on 0 but when the blower is turned between 1-4 the ac lights kick off and the compressor stops cycling. If its switched back to 0 it kicks the AC back on and you can hear it cycling. You can change the HVAC setting and the defroster changes and that will also make the AC compressor cycle.
I have checked the two blower fuses and they don't look burnt out but I am a bit limited since i currently have a fractured ankle (long story) but i am still moderately mobile. In looking at everything i deducted that it could possibly be an issue with the fan switch. Because of this i ordered an Ebay switch panel for the HVAC because i thought it might be an issue with either the whole panel or the switch for the blower. I received the panel today and it was pretty beat up and dirty and because of this i was unsure if that would fix it. I ended up keeping the old temp and level connectors in the original and i just plugged in the fan speed and the same issue happened so now i am at a loss. I also tried the entire panel and it did the same thing.
I have already got a refund for the horrible condition of the replacement panel (covered in dirt and hard buttons from pop) and now i'm back to square one because it doesn't seem to be the fix.
I know this was long winded but i wanted to give as much info as i could.
Please hyundai masters figure this one out.
Thanks,
Anthony
