The GT's sound system is pretty good but I think there's definitely room for improvement. I think I'd be happier if the stock sound system in the VW CC I owned previously hadn't been so incredible. That car had the best sounding sound system I've ever owned (home or car).
I only want to spend around $350 or so on upgrades so my expectations aren't extremely high. I just want the best bang for my buck.
I guess right now I'm trying to decide on either upgrading the stock speakers or buying a low-profile powered subwoofer. I'd like to do the install myself so I don't want anything too complicated. I'm leaning toward the powered subwoofer route because that looks like a fairly straight forward install and it would give more bottom end to the sound and let the factory speakers handle the higher frequencies.
So does anybody have any suggestions I haven't thought about?
(Edit: I have the factory nav system head unit.)
