New Tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 - My opinion

So at about 25,000 miles I decided to replace my crappy stock tires with something better. So I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 215/45R17 tires off of Summit Racing (they actually had the best price and free shipping) for about $120 a tire on sale. They classify these tires as "Ultra-High Performance Sport".

Pilot Sport A/S 3 | Michelin Tires

I've put close to 5,000 miles on them so far and I drive them pretty hard in all kinds of conditions. On dry pavement these are fantastic, very firm feel, especially while cornering. Definitely more grip, there's an off ramp I used to take around 80 mph and now I can get closer to 90 mph before the tires start to make some noise. On wet, they are amazing as well. Recently we got a few inches of snow, I was surprised how well they did. I grew up in NJ and learned to drive there where we got feet of snow, so I was skeptical about how Ultra High Performance tires would do in the snow. They were probably as good as the stock ones at least. Now, if I lived north of the Mason Dixon Line, I would probably reconsider these tires for the Winter months.

So overall, very pleased so far. I've had dozens of different tires on many different cars over the years, including quite a few over the 180,000 miles I had on my old 2006 Elantra GT before I got rid of it. I would buy these again.

Just sharing my two cents if someone is looking for a recommendation on some tires for their GT.
