Paint Inside Of The Headlight Housing

I'm going to have my headlights apart soon to install led's where I want & need to decide whether to or not to paint the chrome reflectors inside the housing. I figured that they're in there to brighten reflect the light's for better view, if you paint them black etc. will that not drastically reduce the brightness coming from them.
Just want to be totally informed before I go screw something up, thanks for any info.
