Alright, so I wanted to get an exhaust for my sonata and the first thing I did was come to this site to do some research on what other people run. As all of you probably know, there's little to no information on exhausts for our cars on here, so I had to go on a limb and try stuff out.
Anyways, what I ultimately went with was two Flowmaster 40 series mufflers with a 2.25 inlet/outlet. They cost around $260 installed, which doesn't break the bank at all. At first, I went with some cheap rounded exhaust tips from the local autoparts store. The sound was great and it didn't sound like a civic or anything ricey. That was the main thing I wanted to avoid. However, with these bigger, round tips, there was definitely a drone present inside the cabin. Between 2k-2.5k rpms it was the most evident.
I began to not like the look of the round tips because they didn't fill out the gap in the SE bumper very well. I went back to the shop and had my stock tips put Back on the new mufflers. Now the sound is perfect. It has a rumble to it and you can actually tell when your car is running. Upon acceleration it has a nice tone, and due to the stock tips having a smaller diameter than 2.25, it absolutely got rid of the resonance. Now it's louder than stock, but quite enough to not be obnoxious.
I hope this information at least helped someone, because there always has to be someone to be the tester
