So I'm gonna start this thread and update it as I come along on the project, and ask for opinions as I go. First of all, my plan is this:
The rear security cover for the hatch has raised areas (or valleys on the bottom side) and I'm going to cut a 3/4" to 1" thick MDF piece to fit in those valleys to stiffen the piece. Then I will build a box out of 5/8" or 1/2" MDF to spec for the sub I will use (probably picking up a JL Audio 10w0-4 this weekend). I am teetering on it firing down or up... I like down for the stealthy look since all that will be visible are the black wide faced bolts holding the frame to the factory privacy cover. Also, my home theater sub is a down firing sub, and sounds great. I like stealthy audio systems in cars. Also, since I DJ part time and need full use of my hatch with the seats down, I will be incorporating quick connects for the power cables. Basically the plug they used for winches on 4x4's.
