I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra with 115k miles. Tuesday morning, when it was driven to the bus stop, everything seemed to function properly. In the evening, when it was time to come home, it had no forward gears at all. I checked the obvious things like fluid level(it was safe) and making certain that the cable was moving as it should at the transmission end(it does). I have seen other people mention this problem, but have not seen anybody mention what the repair actually was. I am expecting the worst since the transmission gave up forward movement altogether, but would like some input before I give up on it. If it needs a rebuilt trans, it will cost more than the car is worth at this point. However, if there is something less expensive that can save it, I would like to fix it.
