Hey everyone new here, we just got our Santa Fe a couple months ago.. It's very stock aside from a set of hankook dyna pros i put on. 3.5 v6 awd, seems to really like going through the deep snow. No complaints so far.
This is the wife's vehicle. I bought her a set of lightforce 240 driving lights for Christmas as the factory highbeams are terrible. I'm having some issues with wiring.
I have a set of driving lights I also made my own harness for and I replicated the same thing for this vehicle. However, this Santa Fe has daytime running lights and my truck does not. (Truck is from America. (What daytime running lights does is it uses your highbeams at half voltage while the headlight switch is off for the maroons that forget to turn their lights off.)
So how my relay is wired is like this:
30- power supply from battery
85- relay ground
87-output power to lights
86- relay signal (this is spliced into the white wire (highbeams) in the headlight harness
In my truck this works great. I shut my highbeams off the driving lights come off , when they're on the lights are on.
In the hyundai the highbeam wire must get voltage even when the vehicle is off due to the daytime running lights.
When the vehicle is off the Lightforces stay on. (Wtf)
When the vehicle is on with low beam on Lightforces are off. (Good)
When the vehicle is on with highbeam on Lightforces are on. (Good.)
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
I am also basically looking for a solution so she can still use the highbeam switch as a toggle so she's not scrambling when she sees oncoming traffic.
Can I wire a switch in line with this wire to essentially cut power to the signal part of the relay and just have her operate it every time she is driving? Should just be as simple as using a two post switch and using the wire as the input and output correct?
