Question regarding SHIFTRONIC

Hello. First time posting here, and I hope someone can help a brother out :D

I recently purchased a 2013 Sonata GLS for commuting and school. So far I love the car and all, but I was wondering if has anyone encountered the same thing that I am experiencing.

When I put my drive into SHIFTRONIC when I am not moving, even if I shift up, the gear stays in D... doesnt show "1".... I am a previous Mazda 3 owner and when I used to turn into M mode, the gear would show as 1 or whatever the gear is when the car is in motion.

Can someone explain ? :)
