Hi all, I figured I'd post this speaker install to resolve some conflicting info online, and so that anyone else doing this on their late 2k model accent would have a good point of reference. The post below will contain pictures of the speakers and the car panels removed. For starters, here are the relevant specs:
Front Speakers: Alpine 6.5 inch.
Rear Speakers: Alpine 5 x 7 inch.
Wiring: 18 gauge.
14-18 gauge female wire connector (gold plated)
Other needed components:
Flat head screwdriver
Phillips head screwdriver
Wire crimping tool
Window crank removal tool (ended up being upstaged by the aforementioned flat head screwdriver)
Needle nose pliers
A shop rag you don't mind ruining
Scissors
One sided adhesive foam****
The backstory:
I already had an aftermarket alpine head unit in my Accent, which I had previously found exceedingly capable in my BMW 3series. When selecting a good speaker, I was torn between Infinity speakers and Alpine. I had used each in previous cars and I like them equally. I ultimately decided to go with the alpine speakers for the simple reason that I liked the idea of having an all alpine setup.
